To our patrons, supporters and friends,
For the safety of our audiences, our community, actors and staff, Virginia Rep is cancelling or suspending productions at our various venues as detailed below effective immediately Friday, March 13.
These moves align with the recommendations and directives of Governor Northam, Mayor Stoney and other local officials and the US CDC for what is required of us as a community and nation to blunt and ultimately halt the spread of this pandemic and its widespread harm.
We are cancelling all remaining performances of our currently running show The 39 Steps at Hanover Tavern. We are postponing indefinitely all performances of Small Mouth Sounds (co-produced with Cadence Theatre Company) at Theatre Gym. We are cancelling all performances of Virginia Rep on Tour for the remainder of the spring semester.
We also are postponing indefinitely the shows which were scheduled to follow immediately on our season calendar - A Doll’s House, Part 2 at the November Theatre scheduled to open April 10, and Freckleface Strawberry scheduled to open April 24 at the Children’s Theatre at Willow Lawn.
Of course, we will monitor developments carefully and continuously in the days and weeks to come and adjust these decisions as required. We eagerly look forward to bringing wonderful live theatre to our audiences at the earliest appropriate time. We will keep our eyes and ears open for opportunities to help all members of our community return to health and vibrant wellness. Please check here for updates. (Please note that certain ads coming out this weekend were pre-printed and cannot be changed or pulled, and therefore will have incorrect information. Our website will feature the most current information at all times.)
Ticketholders will receive full credit toward future productions of your choice. Please call the Box Office at (804) 282-2620.
If instead of using your credit you would like to donate the value of your tickets to Virginia Rep to help us counter the inevitable revenue shortfall, we would be most grateful.
Thank you for your understanding, and please take all personal precautions for the health of your family, friends and neighbors.
